TIME: 8:45AM PLACE: Hancock & Commonwealth Description: Female tenant was leaving 4800 Commonwealth at 8:45AM. Her vehicle was parked on the west side of Commonwealth near Hancock. A black SUV pulled up behind her vehicle. She understood the vehicle wanted her parking spot. She crossed the street,got into her vehicle, the black SUV pulled up along side of her. A white male of medium build, dressed in black got out of the SUV with a long gun and told her "I want your car". She exited the vehicle and her car was driven off south on Commonwealth then east on Hancock. She left her purse in the vehicle. The vehicle was found on April 23 badly damaged. and is a total loss. Her driver's license was put in her mail slot at 4800 on 4/23 . Written on the back of her license were the words, "I'll be seeing you". I talked to my tenant and she was glad that she had separated her apartment keys and vehicle keys so the assailant did not get her house keys. She also said that she put herself in a vulnerable position by walking in front of the Black SUV.
(Robbery Incident) On Thursday, a 23 year old male WSU student reported he was the victim of a robbery, while walking on Warren east of Cass Avenue at about 1:00pm. The student states he went to the ATM machine outside the Olympic Grill and observed the below described subject standing next to him. The student felt uneasy and began to walk away from the ATM. The subject followed him, asking for money. As the student approached the mouth of the alley next to the old Psychology building, the subject raised his coat and displayed a black colored handgun. The subject stated, "Go back to the ATM and take out $500.00, do not make a call and do not run". The student returned to the ATM machine (while the subject watched him from the alley) and withdrew $300.00. He then walked back to the subject and gave him the money. The offender then fled on foot southbound in the alley. The student, who was not injured, went to a nearby store and called his father and then called 911. WSUPD was notified by 911 and multiple units responded immediately. A search of the area failed to locate the subject. A police K-9 tracking dog tracked the scent south in the alley to Hancock, then east on Hancock to Woodward where the scent was lost. Offender Description: Black Male, 40's, 5'5" very thin, dark complexion, noticeable scar on the bottom lip, wearing a black knit hat, black puffy coat with a black fleece shirt under the coat and blue jeans. (Campus Crime Summary) ROBBERY: One Robbery Not Armed incident was reported on January 27, 2009. In that incident, a 25 year old female student reported that a approximately 7:10pm she was standing on Gullen Mall near Ferry Mall talking on her cell phone. While doing so, an unknown male on a mountain bike rode up to her, said nothing, and snatched the cell phone from her hand. He then rode off northbound on Gullen Mall. The student was not injured. Description: Black Male, 20's, 6'0" wearing a brown leather jacket with a hood. No further information. BURGLARY: Four incidents of burglary or attempted burglary were reported during January 2009. One incident (attempted burglary) occurred at the Faculty Administration Building. One burglary was reported at the Ghafari Residence Hall and two burglaries were reported in Atchison Hall. Among some of the items taken were laptop computers (see item #3 below). LARCENY: A total of twenty (20) larcenies (theft of unattended property) were reported in eleven campus buildings during January 2009. Property taken ranged from laptops computers to purses, cell phones and other valuable items. See item #3 (Preventing Laptop Thefts) below. VEHICLE THEFT: Five motor vehicles were reported stolen to WSUPD during January. One vehicle was taken from a WSU parking lot, while four others were taken from public streets immediately adjacent to campus locations. The vehicle stolen from a WSU parking lot was a 1987 Chevrolet Caprice taken from the rear of 2727 Second on January 26, 2009.
